    C flour

  • 3

    t baking powder

  • 3/4

    t salt

  • 3/4

    C butter

  • 1

    C sugar

  • 1

    egg

  • 1 1/4

    t vanilla

  • 2

    T cocoa

  • 1/2

    C chopped nuts

  • 1/4

    C sugar

  • 1

    egg white

Directions

Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Combine dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture to form a dough. Cut dough in 1/3s. Add cocoa to 1/3 of the dough. Roll into long roll. Roll next 2 parts of dough into flat rectangles. Place 1/2 chocolate dough in middle of one of the rectangles. Pull rectangle sides around chocolate log to meet but not overlapping. Coat 2 rolls with egg white and roll in combined sugar and nut mixture. Chill dough 2 hours before baking. Slice thin and bake 375 deg 5-6 mins watching for lightly browned edges. Burns quickly.
