Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding
- 1 loaf French bread
- 4 oz melted butter
- 16 oz milk chocolate chips
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 2 T vanilla
- 8 large eggs
Dice bread into 1" pieces. Place in 2 quart baking dish and drizzle with melted butter.
Toss chocolate chips with bread cubes.
Combine milk, cream, sugar, vanilla. Bring to boil over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
Whisk eggs until smooth. Slowly add hot milk mixture to eggs, stirring constantly. Do not whisk to prevent foam. Skim any foam from custard.
Strain custard over bread and chocolate. Let stand for 10 minutes to allow custard to soak into bread.
Place baking dish into larger dish. Pour hot water into larger dish until it is 1" below the rim. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees until top is golden
