Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1 2/3 cup sifted cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Granulated sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in molasses. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add sour cream alternately with with sifted flour, baking soda, salt and ginger, beating until smooth.

Grease a 9-inch square baking dish. Sprinkle the inside with granulated sugar. Pour in batter and sprinkle top with granulated sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
