Ingredients
- 1 16 oz. package Green Split Peas, sorted and rinsed
- 2 cups diced, cooked ham
- 3 carrots
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 2 ribs celery (including leaves)
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 12- 15 sprigs fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1 1/2 quarts water
- Fresh or seasoned croutons (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare ingredients by slicing carrots and celery; chop parsley (about 1/4 cup.) Layer ingredients in slow cooker in order listed. Do not stir to mix. Pour water gently over layers. Cover and cook on HIGH 4 - 5 hours or LOW 8- 10 hours until peas are soft. Remove bay leaf; mash peas to thicken, if desired, or stir to blend soup. Serve topped with croutons.
