Ingredients
- Topping:
- Layered Oriental Appetizer
- 3/4 C. small cubed chicken
- 1/2 C. shredded carrots
- 1/2 C. chopped unsalted cashews or peanuts
- 3 T. sliced green onions
- 1 T. chopped fresh parsley
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 T. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- In a small bowl, combine all topping ingredients. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight to blend flavors.
- Zippy Sweet-and-Sour Sauce:
- 1/4 C. packed brown sugar
- 2 -/12 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 C. water
- 1/4 C. ketchup
- 2 T. vinegar
- 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 drops hot pepper sauce
- In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Mix well. Gradually stir in remaining sauce ingredients. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, or until mixture thickens, stirring frequently. Cool.
- Base:
- 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1 T. milk
- (For a thicker base, use one 8 oz. pkg. plus a 3 oz. pkg. and 1-1/2 T. milk.)
- In a small bowl, combine cream cheese and milk. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread cream cheese mixture over bottom of a 10-inch round serving plate. Spoon topping evenly over cream cheese. Drizzle with 1/4 to 1/2 cup sauce. Serve with crackers. To store remaining sauce, cover and refrigerate.
