Ingredients

  • 1- 8 oz loaf french bread
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 C milk
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 2/3 C flour
  • 1/3 C packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1 C fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 C quartered strawberries
  • whipped cream- optional

Preparation

Step 1

Lightly grease 3 qt. rectangular baking dish. Arrange bread slices in baking dish. In a lg bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar & vanilla. Slowly pour over bread. Press lightly with back of a large spoon to moisten bread. Cover & chill for 24 hrs. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar & cinnamon. Using pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse grains/ crumbs. Cover & chill until needed. Preheat oven to 350*. Sprinkle french toast with blueberries & brown sugar mixture. Bake uncovered for 25-30 mins or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 mins. Top with strawberries & if desired, whipped cream.
