Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup dry green split peas
  • 1 small meaty ham bone or 2 smoked pork hocks
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped onion
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped celery
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped carrots
  • 1 Tbsp. curry powder
  • 1 Tbsp. marjoram or thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 cup evaporated skim milk
  • 5 cups chicken broth

Preparation

Step 1

Rinse and drain peas. Put in crock pot. Add everything else except evaporated milk.

Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Remove ham bone or hocks; remove the meat and chop. Add the meat back to the crock pot; add evaporated milk, season and serve.
