Ingredients

  • BATTER:
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • CINNAMON BATTER:
  • 1 cup butter, soft
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed tightly
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix together the batter ingredients: flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, milk, eggs and vanilla. Then mix in the melted butter.

Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray, and then pour the batter into the pan. Smooth it out so it is flat.

Using the same bowl (I like to minimize the mess when I can!), use a beater to cream together the cinnamon batter ingredients (butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon).

Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon batter onto the pan, and then swirl with a knife.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until the edges are slightly pulling away at the sides and the cake bounces back when lightly pressed in the center.

While the cake is baking, combine the glaze ingredients (powdered sugar, milk and vanilla) in a small bowl.

Pour drizzle glaze over the cake while it is still warm and serve.
