  • Serve this marinated tofu on its own, or over a salad, rice, or Asian noodles.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon minced or grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 (14-ounce) block firm or extra-firm tofu, patted dry and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 scallions, sliced thin on the bias
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds (optional), toasted

Preparation

Step 1

1. Whisk the soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, sugar, sesame oil, and pepper flakes together in a medium bowl. Add the tofu and gently stir to combine. Let sit for 15 minutes, stirring halfway through.

2. Drain the tofu and discard the marinade. Sprinkle the tofu with the scallions and sesame seeds (if using) and serve.
