Macaroni & Cheese with Smokies

Ingredients
- 1-2 pounds Smokie links
- 6 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup flour (or thicken with guar gum instead)
- 4 1/2 cups milk (or can use chicken broth for half of liquid)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 16 oz macaroni noodles, cooked

Preparation
Step 1
1. Cook macaroni noodles. Drain.
2. Make cheese sauce: In large saucepan melt butter over very low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly over medium heat about 1 minute. Remove from heat; gradually blend in milk with wire whisk. Return to heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Blend in salt & pepper and cheese until cheese is melted.
3. Combine cooked macaroni, smokies, & cheese sauce in lightly greased baking dish.
4. Bake uncovered at 350 for 30 minutes. Garnish with paprika.
Or cook in Crockpot: 2-3 hours on low.
Note: Can top with buttered bread crumbs during last 10 minutes of baking.
