Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 8-inch square pan. Beat butter in large mixer bowl until light. Gradually beat in sugar, then vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add to butter mixture. Stir in nuts. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out barely clean. Cool on wire rack. Cut into 2-inch squares.
