filled ice box cookies

Ingredients

• dough:
• 6 c flour
• 2 tsp soda
• 2 c shortening
• 2 c sugar
• 1 c brown sugar
• 4 eggs
• 2 T water
• 2 t vanilla
• 1 tsp salt
• filling:
• 1 c ground raisins
• 1 c ground dates
• 3/4 c sugar
• 2 tsp flour
• 1 c water
• add:
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 c nuts

Preparation

Step 1

chill dough. divide into 4 rolls and freeze. slice dough. put 1/2 tsp filling on a slice. bake for 12-15 min.

filling: cook. stirring constantly over low heat until thick. add vanilla and nuts.
