Ingredients

  • PASTRY:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2-1/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • FILLING:
  • 2 cups finely ground walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind

Step 1

PASTRY:

Beat butter and cream cheese in bowl with mixer until creamy. Beat in sour cream. Stir in flour and salt until firm dough forms. Add more flour if necessary. Form int a ball, wrap in plastic wrap. Chill overnight.

FILLING:

Combine nuts, sugar, cinnamon, egg and orange rind in small bowl. Divide pastry in half, roll out half on floured surface to an 8" square about 1/4" thick. Spread half of the filling evenly over pastry. Roll up, jelly roll style. Wrap in foil, chill for at least one hour. Repeat to do other half of pastry. Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets. Cut the rolls into 1/4" thick slices. Place 1/2" apart on cookie sheets, reshape into rounds.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until firm and golden brown.
