Ingredients

  • FOR GARLIC BUTTER:
  • Cooking Spray
  • 1 3/4 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. plus 2 Tsp. baking powder
  • 2 1/2 Tsp. sugar
  • 1/4 Tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening, at room temperature
  • 4 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter cut into pieces
  • 6 ounces grated cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 C. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 C. garlic mashed
  • 1 Tsp. chopped fresh parsley

Preparation

Step 1

Position rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 425. Lightly ist baking sheet with cooking spray.

Pulse flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in food processor. Add shortening and pulse until combined. Add butter; pulse 4-5 times or until butter is pea sized. Add cheese and pulse 2-3 more times. Pour in milk and pulse until lmixture is moistened and forms shaggy dough. Turn onto clean surgace and gently knead until dough comes together. Do not overwork dough. Drop onto baking sheet in 1.4 C. portions, 2 inches apart and bake until golden. About 15-20 minutes.

Melt butter with the garlic in small saucepan for 1 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in parsley. Brush biscuits with garlic butter and serve warm.
