Ingredients

Stir 1 1/2 tsp baking soda into 1 c buttermilk.
Sift 1/4 tsp cream of tartar into 4 1/2 c flour.

Step 1

Cream together 2 c sugar and 1 c shortening. Add 3 eggs, the buttermilk and soda, 2 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp lemon extract.
Slowly add flour, 1 cup at a time.
Drop on ungreased cookie sheet and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar or sugar crystals
