Maple Nut Twists

Ingredients
- Refrigerator Rolls:
- 1 c. Shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. Salt
- 2 Tbsp. Yeast
- 4 eggs
- 8 c. flour
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 c. cold water

Preparation
Step 1
Cream shortening, sugar and salt. Add 1 c. boiling water and stir. Dissolve yeast in ½ c. warm water and add to mix. Beat eggs and add to mix. Alternately add flour and cold water. Beat until smooth. Turn into greased bowl and let rise in refrigerator overnight.
Twists:
½ of refrigerator roll recipe, split into 3 balls.
1 stick of butter, melted
Filling:
½ c. sugar
1 tsp. Maple flavor
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/3 c. chopped nuts
Roll out one of dough balls to fit a greased pizza pan. Spread melted butter on, then 1/3 of filling. Repeat with other 2 balls and rest of filling to make layers. Place round cookie cutter or glass in center, do not cut through. Cut from center circle to edges into 16 wedges. Twist each wedge 5 times all in the same direction. Let rise until double. Bake 350°, 20 - 25 minutes. When cooled, drizzle with glaze.
Glaze:
1 ½ c. powdered sugar
2 – 3 Tbsp. Milk
¼ tsp. Maple flavor
