Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup ( 4oz) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp fresh chopped chives
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 425. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar ,baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs, stir in cheese and chives. Add buttermilk and stir until moistened.
2.Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 8-10 times
3. Pat or roll dough to 3/4 inch thickness;cut with a flour biscuit cutter. Place two inches apart on a greased baking sheet
4. bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden
5. Serve warm

NOTE: Great to serve with soup
