Ingredients

  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add brown sugar, shortening, egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir in rolled oats and walnuts.

Form dough into small balls. Dip tops in a little additional sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheeet.

Bake at 375 deg. for 10 - 12 minutes.

Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
