The Best BBQ Baby Back Ribs

Ingredients
- Rub:
- 2 slabs baby back pork ribs
- •2 tablespoons brown sugar
- •1 tablespoon coarsely cracked black pepper
- •1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
- •1 tablespoon dried chili flakes
- Sauce:
- •1-1/2 cup water
- •1/2 cup tomato paste
- •1/2 cup white vinegar
- •1/2 cup whiskey
- •½ cup honey
- •2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- •1-1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- •2 tablespoons dark molasses
- •1/3 cup onion, grated
- •1 large or 2 small cloves garlic, grated
- •3/4 cup brown sugar
- •2 teaspoons kosher salt
- •1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
- •1/4 teaspoon paprika
- •1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- •1/2 tablespoon dried chili flakes

Step 1
Stir together the rub ingredients and rub into both sides of the meat. Seal each slab in heavy aluminum foil, place on a sheet pan and roast in a 300 degree oven for 2-1/2 hours.
Mix together the ingredients for the sauce in a pot and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and simmer for 1-1/4 hours, stirring occasionally.
After the ribs have come out of the oven, it is time to finish them off on the grill. Remove from the foil and cut each slab in half. Grill for about 5 minutes on each side, adding the barbecue sauce at the end to prevent burning. Alternatively, the ribs can be finished off under the broiler if desired.
