Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cups raspberries
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • Cake:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp mace
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup butter (room temp)
  • 2 eggs slightly beaten
  • Topping:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup white or brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup slliced almonds

Preparation

Step 1

Filling: Put water and berries in pan and cook for 10 minutes. Mix in sugar and cornstarch. Cook until thick about 5 minutes, add lemon juice and cool.
Cake: Combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter, add eggs, milk, and vanilla. Stir iuntil well blended. Spread half batter in cake pan that has been buttered. Spread on filling and drop remaining batter by spoonfuls on top.
Topping: Cut butter into flour and sugar. Sprinkle over cake. Bake 350 for 40 to 45 minutes.
