Ingredients

  • 1 jar old English cheese spread
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 can crab meat, drained & flaked
  • 6 English muffins

Preparation

Step 1

Beat cheese and butter together until smooth. Add seasonings and mayonnaise. Stir in crab meat. Cut muffins (untoasted) in half and spread with mixture; cut each half into four pieces. Place on rimmed baking sheet and freeze until solid. Place in plastic bags; seal and store in freezer.

Canapés may be removed as desired and baked (without thawing) at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot.

Bacon canapés: Grind together 1 pound cheddar cheese, 1/2 pound uncooked bacon, 1 medium onion and 1 medium green pepper. Mix well and spread on muffin halves; cut each in 4 pieces. Proceed as above.
