Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter/margarine, softened
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 11 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp butter/margarine
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar together well. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix in. Add rolled oats. Stir together. Press 2/3 mixture into greased 10 x 15 inch pan. Set aside.

In heavy pot or top of double boiler combine milk, chocolate chips, butter, vanilla and salt. When chips are melted stir in nuts. Spoon over prepared base. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 oatmeal mixture. Bake in 350 oven for about 20 minutes or until browned.
