Very best sugar cookies! Need to chill dough for a half hour before making cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

1. Cream the butter. Add sugar. Cream together well.

2. Add eggs. Beat well. Stir in vanilla.


3. Sift together the dry ingredients(flour, baking powder and salt). and blend into creamed mixture.

4. Chill for half an hour.

5. Roll on floured board to 1/8 inch thickness. Dip cookies cutters in flour, cut out shapes (sprinkle cookies with colored sugar or frost as directed below)and bake on greased cookie sheet (or parchment paper covered cookie sheet) at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes(or convection bake oven at 350 degrees).

6.When cookies are cooled, frost with colored sugar. 1/2 cup sifted confectioner's sugar mixed with 2-2 1/2 tsp. milk, a little vanilla, salt and food coloring.
