  • Frosting:
  • l pkg. spice cake mix
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, cubed
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9x13" pan. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, butter, milk and egg; beat on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium 2 minutes (batter will be thick). Pour into pan. Bake 15-20 minutes or till toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire rack. For frosting, in a large saucepan, combine brown sugar, milk and butter over medium heat; bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar and vanilla. Immediately spread icing over cake; sprinkle with sea salt. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Store in airtight container.
