Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups white/yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 3/4 teaspooon Salt
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 6 tablespoons Onion minced, optional
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder

Step 1

Mix all dry ingredients. Add onion, beaten egg and milk. Stir lightly to moisten well. Drop a scant teaspoon of batter for each hushpuppy into hot deep fat fryer at 365 degrees. Cook until brown. When done, they will float. Drain on absorbent paper.
