Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup thin sliced ginger
  • 2 to 3 stalks lemon grass or a hefty squeeze from the tube
  • 2 Tbs 5-spice powder
  • 1 tsp chili paste
  • 8 to 10 leaves of cilantro
  • 2 Tbs black peppercorns

Step 1

1. Mix together all ingredients and pour over meat so it is covered. Allow to marinate at least 8 hours, but ideally overnight. Grill meat and allow to sit 5 to 10 minutes after cooking, prior to serving.
