Ingredients

  • 1 # Michigan Navy Beans
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 T salt
  • 1/2 t. pepper
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 t. Herbes de Provence
  • 1 sliced browned onion
  • 2 sliced carrots

Preparation

Step 1

Wash beans and remove any rocks. Soak beans overnight or boil for 2 minutes and let soak for 1 hour. Drain.
Add all ingredients and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook with ham bone until done. Remove bone. Remove meat from bone and add to pot. Discard bone.
Mash beans with a potato masher until partly smooth.
Serve
