Ingredients
- 3 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 4 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
- Grated zest and juice of 2 lemons
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1/2 cup sugar

Step 1
1. Mix flour, salt and baking powder together. Cream 2 cups sugar and butter in mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks 1 at a time. Add flour mixture and milk alternately, beating well after each addition. Stir in pecans and lemon zest. Fold in egg whites.
2. Spoon batter into 2 greased 4x8" loaf pans. Bake at 350F for 50-60 mins or until loaves test done. Pour a mixture of lemon juice and 1/2 cup sugar over the hot loaves. Let stand until cool before removing from pans. This bread freezes well.
