Jo's Pie Crust

I don't like pie crust but this recipe made a believer out of me. Thanks Jo for sharing this wonderful recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4

    cups unbleached flour

  • 1 1/3

    cups butter flavored Crisco

  • 1

    tbsp sugar

  • 2

    tsp salt

  • 12

    tbsp iced water

Directions

Blend flour, salt, sugar and Crisco with a fork or pastry blender until the consistency of cornmeal. Gradually add the ice water one tbsp at a time stirring until blended and mixture forms a ball. Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead slightly to blend completely. Separate into two or three smaller balls depending on the size of the pie plate and roll out to fit. For empty pie shells bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. For filled shells, follow directions for pie recipe. Shells can be put in freezer unbaked and used at a later date.
