Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks of Land O Lakes Margarine- 1/2 a pound)
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar (plus extra for the coating of the cookies)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts, or to your liking but you will see that they can't be too big otherwise they won't stay in the dough

Preparation

Step 1

Cream margarine- add confectioner's sugar, flour, salt then be sure to add the vanilla last.
Mix well and then add nuts (may have to use hands to mix if spoon does not work.) Form into one inch balls.
Do not have to grease cookie sheets.
Bake cookies in 400 degree oven for 4 minutes.
They have a tendency to burn quickly. They'll get lightly browned on bottom of cookie when they are done. They cook faster when the oven gets hotter.
Let cookies cool and settle for a couple minutes. Then roll in confectioner's sugar while they are still hot. Let them cool and roll in a second time.
I always make them ahead of time and store then in Tupperware up to two weeks ahead. Usually start after Thanksgiving.
