Ingredients

  • ● 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ● 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ● 1 lb. ground turkey or hamburger or sausage
  • ● salt
  • ● pepper
  • ● 8 (6 oz) lasagna noodles, each broken into 4 pieces
  • ● 1 26 oz jar spaghetti sauce (original recipe calls for tomato sauce, not enough flavor)
  • ● 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella, 6 oz
  • ● 3/4 cup ricotta cheese or cottage cheese

Preparation

Step 1

1. Warm oil in dutch oven over med-hi heat.
2. Add garlic; cook 1 min.
3. Add turkey, salt and pepper, and cook, breaking up meat, until it loses its pink color, 3-5 minutes.
4. Scatter noodles over turkey.
5. Pour sauce and 2 cups water on top. If using tomato sauce add salt and pepper to sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat, cover and cook until noodles are tender, stirring 20 minutes.
6. Stir in 1 cup mozzarella. Remove from heat; spoon ricotta or cottage cheese on top.
7. Sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cover; let stand 4-5 minutes.
