"Perfectly Chocolate" Chip Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 1/4 c. flour
• 1/3 c. cocoa
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
• 3/4 c. white sugar
• 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 eggs
• 2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda in lg. bowl; beat butter, white sugar, brown sugar and vanilla on med. speed of electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, beat well.
Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 min. or until set. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
