Ingredients

  • 1

    lb ground beef

  • garlic

  • salt

  • 1

    cup of Bovril

  • potatoes

  • onion

  • carrots

  • mushrooms

Directions

Brown meat in a little oil. Add garlic, salt and Bovril. Simmer, covered for about 1/2 hour, stirring from time to time. Prepare other ingredients. Combine meat and everything else. Stir well. Add salt and more water if necessary. Bring to the boil. Stir thoroughly to make sure the ingredients are well mixed. Simmer until everything is tender (about 2 hours). Stir occasionally and add water when required. Mix 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch and enough cold water to make a paste. Add prior to serving and stir until sauce thickens.
