  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cups milk, scalded
  • 1/2 stick oleo
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 9-inch baked pie shell

Step 1

Add hot milk to sugar and flour mixture. Beat egg yolks with fork and add small amount of thickened mixture to egg yolks and return to pan and cook until thick. Add butter, vanilla and coconut. Pour into pie shell and top with meringue and sprinkle coconut over top.

Meringue:
3 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
6 tablespoons sugar

Beat egg whites with vanilla and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes
