Strawberry Pie (D)

Ingredients

• 1 quart strawberries
• water
• 1/4 cup cornstarch
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 3-ounce package cream cheese, softened
• 1 baked 9-inch pie shell

Preparation

Step 1

Wash hulled berries and put aside 6 for garnish. Place half of berries through sieve; mash. Slice remaining berries. Add water to sieved berries to make a 1-1/2 cup mixture. In saucepan mix cornstarch, salt, and sugar. Add sieved berry mixture and cook until thickened, stirring while cooking. Cool.

Mix milk and cream cheese; spread on baked pastry shell. Cover with sliced berries. Spread thickened mixture over top. Chill.
