American Beauty Frosting

Mom always make red velvet cakes for everyones birthday and she uses this icing for it.

Ingredients

• 2 Tbsp. flour
• 1/2 c. milk
• Pinch of salt
• 1/2 c. granulated sugar
• 1/4 c. butter or oleo
• 1/4 c. Crisco
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla or other flavoring

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour and milk and cook until thick. Cool. Meanwhile, cream sugar, salt and shortenings. Add vanilla. Then add cooled flour mixture and beat until very fluffy.
