  • 1 block soft tofu or
  • 1 tube soft japanese tofu
  • 1/2 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1 bunch green onion
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp oil

Step 1

Slice the tofu into 1/2 in. thick slices. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan of high heat, add tofu slices to the heated pan. Flip when bottom turns golden brown. Transfer tofu slices to a steaming plate when both sides are fried to golden brown and slightly crispy. Steam for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in another pan, heat oil then stir fry chopped spring onions for a few minutes, until it is heated through, be careful not to overcook the greens or they will turn yellow. Pour all the oil including the scallions into a dipping bowl. Add sugar, dissolve, then add in the dark soy sauce, sesame oil and seasme seeds. Taste sauce, add more sugar as necessary. When tofu is done, pour some of the sauce directly over onto the tofu, and reserve the rest as a dipping sauce. If spiciness is desired, can also add a chopped chili and stir fry with the scallions.
