The Ultimate Cut Out Sugar Cookies
By Lalabee
It doesn't seem that long ago I was painting cookies with my sons. Now I'm enjoying the same fun painting and decorating cookies with my 3 grandsons, Jack, Derek and Lucas. It's so much fun cutting out the cookies, decorating them and the grandkids love having a part in the Christmas and Easter baking.

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter; add sugar and eggs. Mix well. Add cream or milk and all the dry ingredients. Put covered in the refrigerator for about an hour to chill the dough for easier rolling. Roll out on a floured board. Cut into desired shapes and bake at 400 degrees for 6-8 minutes. Cool and frost or decorate as desired. For the frosting that is easy for the kids to decorate, mix powdered sugar, flavoring and food coloring with water until it's of a consistency that can easily be painted on the cookie with a paintbrush. I make up small bowls of the powdered sugar mixture and add different colors. A variety of sprinkles are always a must to sprinkle on the painted cookie. As the frosting cools, it dries so you can store the cookies. I just buy a package of children's paintbrushes and keep them for cookie decorating.
