Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans trimmed and halved
  • 4 bacon slices
  • 1 bottle cocktail onions (drained)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 11/2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Cook beans in boiling water 4 minutes or until crisp-tender. Rinse with cold water, drain and pat dry.

Cook bacon in skillet. Remove bacon and reserv 2 tablespoons dripping in pan. Crumble bacon and set aside. Add onions to drippings in pan and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add sugar and thyme and cook for 3 minutes until golden brown. Add the beans and cook 2 minutes or until heated. Add vinegar, salt and pepper. Toss to coat. Stir in bacon before serving.
