Ingredients
- 12 tbsp. unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks), cold
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/3 cup shortening (Crisco), cold
- 1/2 cup ice water

Step 1
Cut butter into 1/2" cubes. Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and shortening and cut into flour, until mixture is crumbly. Add ice water, a little at a time. Mix until dough sticks together. Pat into a ball. Roll in wax paper and refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Divide ball into two parts and roll each into a 12" circle. To bake one crust for a single crust pie, bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes or until slightly browned on edges.
