Ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • SAUCE:
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 3 Tbs water
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 350*
1-Grease and flour tube pan.
2-Measure flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into med bowl,wisk to combine, set aside.
3-Cream butter and sugar until pale in color.
4-Add eggs 1 at a time, mix to incorporate after each addition.
5-Add and mix in vanilla.
6-Alternate mixing in flour mixture and buttermilk. Starting and ending with flour,don't over mix!
7-Pour batter into prepared tube pan.
8-Bake for 55-65 min.
9-Remove from oven to a cooling rack, poke holes in cake, spaced about an inch and a half apart.(I use a chopstick)
10-Add butter, sugar and water to saucepan.
11-Over med-hi heat cook sauce until it starts to simmer and butter is melted, simmer for about 30 sec,add vanilla.
12-Pour 1/2 of the sauce into holes of cake.
13-Let the cake rest for about 15 min.
14-Loosen cake from tube pan and invert onto cake plate.
15-Reheat the sauce slightly and pour over the top of the cake.
16-Cool cake as long as you can stand it...Enjoy!!!
