Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (32 oz) spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 carton (15 oz) riccota
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 tea. dried oregano
  • 1/8 tea. cayenne
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pkg. (8 ozx) uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 pkg (16 oz) sliced mozarella cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat and darin excess fat. Add spaghetti sauce and water. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

In a medium bowl, coimbine ricotta, onion, bell pepper, oregano, cayenne pepper and egg. Mix well.

In a ungreased 9x13 pan, spread half of the meat mixture on the bottom. Top with half of the uncooked noodles, half of the cheese mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers ending with meat sauce.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake, uincovered at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and let set 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
