Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 9 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2-1/2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • Filling:
  • 9 tablespoons butter
  • 2-1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1-1/3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • rum

Preparation

Step 1

Cake:
1. Break the chocolate into pieces and melt in milk over low heat.
2. Beat butter and sugar together.
3. Add egg.
4. Fold chocolate into butter and sugar mix.
5. Add flour to mix, with baking powder.
6. Spoon into greased springform pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes.
7. Cool.

Filling:
8. Melt butter and chocolate for filling over low heat.
9. Fold in sugar and lightly whisked egg.
10. Stir until mixture is smooth.
11. Add rum to taste.
12. Slice cake into three or four layers and sandwich together with filling.
13. Spread rest on top.
14. Serve with coffee, if desired.
