Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds 95% lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 cup sliced green onions
- 4 cloves garlic, pressed
- 1/2 cup canned low sodium diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup seeded and diced jalapeno pepper
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 whole wheat burger buns

Step 1
Preheat indoor or outdoor grill. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except burger buns; blend well and form into 4 patties. Grill burgers until they reach desired level of doneness. Serve on whole wheat burger buns.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve burgers with the usual condiments (mustard, pickle relish, ketchup, mayo). On the side, serve a salad tossed with Easy Balsamic Vinaigrette (see recipe).
