Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp each bkg soda and bkg powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp anise extract
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tblsp anise seeds
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup toasted almonds

Step 1

Sift dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and flavorings. Then add the flour and then nuts. Refrigerate at least one hour.
Preheat oven to 350*
Form the dough into two logs and arrange on one cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with damp hands, sprinkle with sanding sugar. Bake for 30 minutes. Transfer logs to a cutting board and cut 3/4-1" biscotti, I do it at an angle.
Arrange them on cookie sheets. Bake for 15 minutes more till they are toasted.
