Ingredients
- Honey syrup:
- 25 sheets phyllo
- 1 cup melted butter
- 2 cups finely ground nuts
- 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp orange zest
- 1/4 tsp salt

Step 1
Brush 10 pastry sheets with 1/3 cup melted butter, buttering between each layer.place the sheets in a 9-13" pan. Combine nuts and sugar and spices. Sprinkle pastry with 1/3 of the nut mixture, then put 1 sheet, brush with butter, sprinkle with nuts ,add 1 sheet, butter, sprinkle with nuts. When nuts are all used up brush remaining butter on top of each remaining pastry sheet. Score and cut diagonally to form 8 large pieces. Bake in a 350* oven for 50-60 minutes. Until the top is crisp and golden in color. Remove from oven and immediately pour hot honey syrup over the top till pastry stops sizzling,( do not pour after sizzling stops as this will result in sticky pastry)
Syrup:
Combine all ingredients in saucepan while the baklava is in the oven. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly,. Lower heat and simmer 10 minutes. Keep hot till ready to use.
