Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 small red onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 cup chipotle chiles canned in adobo, minced
- 1 cup lowfat cheddar cheese, grated
- Caramelized Onions
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 large onions, very thinly sliced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 cup nonfat beef broth
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

Step 1
1. In large bowl, gently combine all ingredients except cheese, using your hands. Form into 4 patties, each 3/4-inch thick.
2. Lightly oil grill or a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the burgers to desired degree of doneness, at least medium, 4-6 minutes per side.
3. Top it with Caramelized Onions (see recipe below) and the cheese, wrapped inside a warm flour tortilla.
4. Onions: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions, salt, and pepper and cook, stirring often, until onions are browned, 7-10 minutes.
5. Add broth, barbecue sauce, and vinegar. Reduce heat to low and simmer until the sauce thickens, about 15 minutes.
Notes: Jori's notes: - made these pretty much "as is" - except for serving them on whole wheat English muffins, rather than in tortillas. Sliced cheese may work better than shredded if not using tortillas. Really, really fantastic flavor and quite easy to make. Definitely a repeater
