Fried Pie Dough

Ingredients

• 4 cups flour
• 1 ½ cups Crisco
• 1 teas. Salt
• 1 ½ cups buttermilk
• Mix, cover and refrigerate overnight.

Preparation

Step 1

4 cups flour
1 ½ cups Crisco
1 teas. Salt
1 ½ cups buttermilk
Mix, cover and refrigerate overnight.
Pinch off a ball of dough about the size of a golf ball; roll it out on a floured surface; use a bowl or other round object to cut the pie the size you want. Then put the trimmings into the next ball of dough, etc. I use Canola oil for frying in a Dutch oven that I've had for 40 years or more....Canola has a higher burn temp; Dutch oven is nice & deep. Drain on paper towels. They're really not greasy at all. I use the lid from a 3 lb can of Crisco to cut the circles of dough.
