Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. sal
1 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/4 c. corn syrup

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar, shortening and egg thoroughly. Blend in corn syrup. Blend flour, cocoa, salt and soda together and add to wet ingredients gradually. Mix well. Shape dough into 1" balls. Dip half of each ball in water then in granulated sugar. Place sugar side up 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 F for 12 - 15 minutes. Remove from baking sheet immediately.
