Ingredients

  • Marshmallow Frosting:
  • 8 ( 1 1/2 oz) Milky Way candy bars
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 (7 oz) jar marshmallow creme

Preparation

Step 1

Combine candy bars and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and stir until melted. Add nuts and stir until smooth and blended. Set aside to cool.

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add cooled candy mixture and mix well.

Combine flour, soda, and salt; add alternately to creamed mixture with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla and mix well.

Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9" layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes or until done. Cool completely and frost with Marshmallow Frosting.

Marshmallow Frosting:

Combine sugar,milk and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until mixture reaches soft ball stage (230 degrees). Remove from heat and stir in marshmallow creme. Beat with a spoon until mixture is of spreading consistency.
